EcoHue: Marwood’s Innovative Step Towards a Zero-Waste Future

September 3, 2025

At Marwood, we believe that true sustainability is not just about grand gestures; it is woven into the very fabric of our design and production philosophy. It’s found in the details, the processes, and the commitment to making every stage of our work, from material selection to waste management, environmentally conscious. As a brand preferred by those who embrace a nature-focused design philosophy, we believe true innovation often happens behind the scenes. That’s why we want to shed light on a fundamental part of our sustainable manufacturing commitment: our proprietary EcoHue protocol.

What is the EcoHue Protocol?

Innovation Hidden in Plain Sight

The magic of EcoHue lies in its simple yet highly effective process. By meticulously mixing surplus coatings of different colors and shades, we produce a unique, grey-toned paint we call EcoHue Grey. This recycled paint is then applied to the hidden surfaces and unseen components of our Marwood designs: the internal frames, the undersides of tabletops, and the interior of storage units.

This approach is deliberate. It allows us to reuse waste paint and prevent resource depletion without ever compromising the visible aesthetics of the final product. The beauty and integrity of the design remain exactly as the designer intended, while the furniture itself carries a hidden story of sustaina

In any furniture production process that involves chemical-based paints, waste management is a critical challenge. Traditionally, surplus powder coatings become industrial waste, consuming resources and contributing to environmental strain. We saw this not as a problem, but as an opportunity.

The EcoHue Protocol is our proprietary, eco-friendly method for creating a circular economy within our own production facilities. It is our answer to the question of how to manage waste intelligently and responsibly. The protocol enables us to collect and recycle 100% of our excess powder coatings, transforming what would be waste into a valuable new resource.

bility.

Through the EcoHue Protocol, we achieve remarkable results:

  • 4 tons of waste powder paint are given a new purpose annually.
  • 26,800 square meters of material are colored each year using 100% recycled EcoHue Grey paint.

More Than a Process, It’s a Promise

EcoHue is more than just an internal protocol; it’s a tangible expression of our values. It ensures the more efficient use of natural resources, minimizes our environmental impact, and proves that thoughtful innovation can create a win-win scenario for both design and the planet.

For our clients, choosing Marwood means investing in furniture that is not only beautiful, functional, and durable but also ethically and responsibly made. EcoHue is one of the many ways we honor that trust, delivering integrity
